The Russian Federation, the United States, China and Pakistan are turning to the Afghan government, the Taliban (banned in the Russian Federation) and other forces with a call to prevent the use of Afghan territory by international terrorists.
“The Parties called on Afghans, including the government and the Taliban, to ensure that international terrorists do not use Afghan land to threaten the security of any other country”, – said the joint statement from four countries released by the State Department following consultations in Moscow on 24 – the 25th of October.
The statement emphasizes that a peaceful solution to the Afghan problem can be worked out only through negotiations, therefore, for this purpose, all local forces need to reduce the level of violence.
The document also called on the Afghan government and the Taliban to release a significant number of prisoners to start inter-Afghan negotiations.
In addition, the signatories welcomed the proposal of the China to host the next inter-Afghan meeting in Beijing, including the participation of the Taliban.
