Germany welcomed the decision to delay Brexit

The German government welcomes the decision to postpone Brexit until January 31, 2020, expects that the additional time will be used productively, said the official representative of the Cabinet of Germany, Steffen Seibert.

The head of the European Council Donald Tusk said on Monday that the EU, consisting of 27 countries, agreed to postpone Brexit until January 31, and now this decision has to be approved in writing. Earlier, the United Kingdom asked to postpone its withdrawal from the EU from October 31 to January 31, because the Brexit agreement on conditions has not yet been ratified.

“Yes, the Federal Government supports this and considers the decision reached this morning in Brussels is a good step, a good decision. It is positive that all 27 member countries have shown unity. Now the ball is on the side of the United Kingdom. It is important that the extra time be used productively”, – he said at a briefing on Monday.
