The Verkhovna Rada deputy claims the unreadiness of Ukrainian authorities to withdraw forces in the Donbass

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputy from the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party Yuriy Boyko believes that the Ukrainian government is not ready for the separation of forces in the Donbass.

“The authorities (of Ukraine – ed.) were not ready to act decisively on the issue of troop withdrawal. The nationalist groups were frightened and the peace process was stalled again. Troop withdrawal is an integral part of Minsk agreements, this is an important step on the road to peace. Every voter who voted for peace has the right to know what the government is doing to realize its choice”, –  the site of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party quotes Boyko as saying on Saturday.

He noted that various fakes about what would happen on the contact line in case of troop withdrawal were launched.

“A few days ago I was in the village of Zolotoy (Lugansk region – ed.), which appears in all reports. And when people gathered, there were more than 500 of them in the square, I asked who was standing for the withdrawal of troops to stop shooting, and the whole village raised its hands. Everybody stands for it. This is the main thing, and this must be done”, – the opposition deputy added.

The Steinmeier formula agreed by the Minsk contact group determines the mechanism for enacting the law on the special procedure for local self-government in Donbass on a temporary basis on election day and on an ongoing basis after the publication of the OSCE election report. After the approval of the formula in Ukraine, meetings of its opponents took place. Zelensky said that he respected the right of citizens to protest, but urged not to succumb to the provocation of individual politicians.
