Two NATO warships entered the port of Batumi, they will conduct joint exercises with the coast guard of Georgia, Georgian First Channel reports.
According to it, these are the ships ITS Vesuvio (Italy) and TCG Amasra (Turkey). The ships are part of the Second Permanent Mine Action Group of NATO, led by Captain Alessandro Falcone.
It is specified that Turkish and Italian ships entered Batumi after the USS Porter missile destroyer left the port.
In April, NATO countries agreed in Washington to support Ukraine and Georgia in the Black Sea. In particular, exercises, exchange of information and calls at ports of the water area are provided. The measures are also aimed at raising NATO awareness of the situation in the Black Sea.
