The truck in which British police found the bodies of 39 victims is registered in Bulgaria.
According to the press center of the Bulgarian foreign Ministry.
Essex County police on Wednesday morning found 39 dead in a truck that arrived in the UK, presumably from Bulgaria via Holyhead, a port city where ferries from the island of Ireland arrive. On suspicion of murder, a 25-year-old resident of Northern Ireland was detained.
“Yes, the Scania truck was indeed registered in Bulgaria in the city of Varna for a company owned by an Irish citizen”, – the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry press center said.
According to the agency, the bodies of 38 dead adults and one teenager have not yet been identified, but “the British police have already stated that” it is highly unlikely that they are Bulgarians”.
