The EU reiterates that the renewed Brexit agreement reached last week is the only one possible. This was stated by the chief negotiator of the European Union on Brexit Michel Barnier in the European Parliament.
Moreover, representatives of the European Union have repeatedly said that the agreement reached between the EU and the country’s negotiators about a year ago is the best, only possible and not subject to revision. However, this agreement failed to ratify three times in the British Parliament, and the parties returned to the negotiating table. In October, they nevertheless adjusted the previous contract and thus reached an updated deal. However, it still cannot get through the British Parliament.
“If Britain wants an organized exit from the EU, then this agreement is the only possible”, – Barnier said.
The European Union and the United Kingdom last Thursday, after several weeks of intensive and difficult negotiations, agreed on an updated deal on the terms of Brexit, then it was approved by the summit of the heads of 27 remaining EU countries, and now it must be ratified by the British Parliament, the future fate of the “divorce” of the country depends on it and the Union.
However, the vote in the United Kingdom, scheduled for Saturday, did not produce results, as well as what could have taken place on Monday.
The previous version of the agreement was rejected three times by the British deputies, in connection with which the term for the country’s withdrawal from the Union was postponed from March 29 to October 31 of this year. Now the UK is asking for a new delay – until the end of January. The decision on its provision should be made by the summit of the leaders of the countries remaining in the European Union. Until October 31, new summits of the EU heads of state have not yet been appointed.
The country’s withdrawal from the union of troubles of the agreement on the conditions of this “divorce” threatens both sides with serious economic consequences, since the norms of the European Union should cease to apply to the country from the moment of its separation from the EU.
