Turkey “took control” of 111 settlements in Syria

In nine days of the operation, 765 terrorists were neutralized, an area of 1.5 thousand square kilometers was liberated.

Since the beginning of operation Source of peace, the Turkish army has taken control of 111 settlements in Syria. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, October 21, UKRINFORM reports.

“In just 9 days of the operation, 765 terrorists were neutralized, the territory of 1.5 thousand square kilometers was liberated from terrorist organizations. We have taken control of 111 settlements. We are taking all necessary measures, especially with regard to the provision of food, health and security, so that our brothers and sisters living in the region do not experience any problems”, –  Erdogan said.

He also noted in his speech that Turkey is a country that has no territorial claims to other States, and criticized the position of some EU and NATO countries that declare the fight against terrorism, but did not support the operation in Syria.

He also pointed out that Turkey has never agreed with terrorists and will continue to fight.

“We agreed with the United States, not terrorists. We will continue to fight until we get rid of the last terrorist. Our partners must keep their word, we should not re-apply the tactics of distraction in Munbichi. We hope that the consensus reached on October 17 will open a new page in Turkish-American relations”, –  the Turkish President said.

At the same time, he criticized the us actions in the region, pointing out that Washington, calling itself  “the strongest country in the world”, supplies weapons to Syrian militants.

He also indicated that Turkey is ready to resume the operation “Source of peace” from the place where it was suspended, in case of non-compliance with the agreement on the liberation of territories, after the 120 hours specified in the agreement.

Recall, on October 17, Washington and Ankara agreed to suspend the Turkish military operation for peace For 120 hours.

The agreement was reached during the visit of us Vice President Michael Pence to Turkey.

During this period, the Kurdish people’s protection Units (YPG) will have to withdraw from the area of operation in Northern Syria.
