WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who appeared at a meeting of the Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London on his extradition to the United States, said he did not understand what was happening.
At the end of the meeting, Judge Vanessa Baraitzer, the host of the trial, asked Assange if he understood what was happening in court today.
“Not really”, – he said.
“I can’t think straight”, – Assange added quietly.
During the entire session, which lasted about an hour, the defendant behaved calmly, sitting on the podium.
Journalists and supporters of the activist suggested that Assange is forced to take psychotropic substances in prison, which prevents him from responding adequately to what is happening and participating in the process of his own defense.
On Monday, the Westminster Magistrate Court in the London District of Westminster held a regular hearing on the extradition of the founder of Wikileaks, setting the next hearing on November 18 and allowing Assange to be present via video link.
It is expected that the process will continue in three stages, at each of which the parties will present their arguments. Also, hearings will be held in December, January and February. In essence, the case will be considered at the end of February, as mentioned earlier.
