Medical assistance was provided to 96 victims of the riots in Catalonia on Wednesday, the emergency service said on Twitter.

Earlier media reported 40 injured among protesters and 24 injured among law enforcement officers.

Most people sought medical help in Barcelona – 57 people. Another 14 people were injured in Manresa, 12 in Lleida, 9 in Girona, two in Tarragona, and one each in Sils and Sallent.

Riots began in Catalonia on October 14 after the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced twelve Catalan politicians to their involvement in an illegal independence referendum in 2017. Nine people were found guilty of rebellion and received sentences ranging from 9 to 13 years in prison, three people were found guilty of disobedience and sentenced to a fine.

As a result of the riots on Monday, the epicenter of which was Barcelona Airport, 131 protesters and about 70 law enforcement officers were injured. On Tuesday evening, clashes between radicals and law enforcement agencies took place in Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Girona and Lleida. In the Catalan capital, protesters built barricades on the streets and lit bonfires. About 200 people were injured, including about 70 law enforcement officers. About 50 people were detained.
Protests, blocking roads and railways in the autonomous community continued on Wednesday. In addition, columns of protesters are sent to Barcelona from five different cities in the autonomous community. They should arrive in the Catalan capital on Friday, the day of the general strike.
