The Pentagon sent a battalion of the US Armed Forces to Lithuania, as well as armored vehicles to conduct military exercises there.
According to reports, in addition to five hundred troops, about a hundred units of heavy equipment will arrive from the United States in Lithuania, in particular 30 M1 “Abrams” tanks and 25 M2 “Bradley” infantry fighting vehicles.
American armored vehicles will be deployed in the area of the Pabrade training ground in the eastern part of the country and near the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. It is also known that the US military will participate in various maneuvers in Lithuania until the spring of next year.
According to the tradition that has developed for the local authorities, the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Raimundas Karoblis, hastened to call the arrival of a foreign military contingent in the republic a “significant event”. He also emphasized that such measures “are among the most effective deterrence measures”.
