Plahotniuc arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list

A court in the capital sector of Cecana on Friday granted the prosecutors’ request for an arrest of 30 days and a national wanted list of former Democratic Party leader Vladimir Plahotniuc. This was reported by the head of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Viorel Morar.

“He was arrested in absentia and put on the national wanted list. This is the procedure – after receiving a mandate, an international wanted list is followed. I think that this procedure should not last long. It does not require my participation,” Morar said.

A court decision may be appealed to the Court of Appeal for three days.
