Austria does not want to participate in refugee distribution program

Finding EU countries that want to participate in the reception of Mediterranean “refugees” agreed by Germany, France, Italy and Malta is a difficult task. Austria, for example, adheres to its negative attitude.

“Many European Union member states are critical of these proposals. I want actual solutions because you have to pay attention to the whole problem, across the Mediterranean. The central Mediterranean route is only a small part of this route, and eight percent of people want to cross the Mediterranean Sea and enter Europe”, – said Austrian Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Peschorn.

However, in Greece and the Balkans, there is an “increase in migration pressure”.

“This is about how to deal with saved people. This applies to all borders of Europe. There must be a proper asylum procedure, external borders must be protected, and above all, illegal border crossing should not be encouraged, but stopped”, – Peschorn further said.
