German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas condemned the decision of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to begin a military operation in northeast Syria and called for its cessation, noting the risk of strengthening the positions of the Islamic State terrorist group, the German Foreign Ministry said.
