Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed on Monday with the head of the Syrian opposition movement Tomorrow Syria, Ahmed al-Jarba, the prospects for resolving the situation in Syria. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“A discussion was held on the prospects for the development of the situation in and around Syria with emphasis on the need for sustainable promotion of a political settlement in accordance with the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi and the provisions of UNSC resolution 2254,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, Moscow reaffirmed its commitment to the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as its efforts “to completely eliminate the presence of international terrorism in this country.”
