Zelensky to take an active part in American elections

Through the efforts of President of the United States Donald Trump, his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelensky, could be the one to  intervene in the American race for the White House in 2020.

This is stated in an article in The Washington Post.
As noted in the publication, Trump seeks to drag Zelensky into a confrontation, forcing him to unleash an investigation into corruption schemes by Hunter Biden, the son of the main rival of the current American Democrat president, Joe Biden.

Biden, Jr. is a member of the supervisory board of the gas company Burisma, and in the past, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine began checks regarding it, which was prevented by then US Vice President Joe Biden. He threatened to deprive Kiev of financial assistance from Washington if Petro Poroshenko didn’t dismiss General Prosecutor Viktor Shokin from his post, which really happened.

The Washington Post notes that Trump’s decision to freeze military aid to Ukraine is part of his plan to put pressure on Zelensky to provide information discrediting Biden.
