US announced new missile tests

The United States plans to deploy new missiles (Precision Strike Missile, PrSM) and previously banned by the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate and Shorter Range Missiles (INF Treaty) hypersonic missiles with ballistic warheads in the early 2020s, Acting Secretary of the US Army Ryan McCarthy stated.

According to him, PrSM missiles, if reprogrammed, will be able to go beyond the INF Treaty range. He also noted that this also applies to hypersonic missiles with a ballistic warhead.

“All this can be done in the very near future. All this is under development. We expect to deploy hypersonic as well as high-precision missiles in the early 2020s”, – McCarthy said.

In turn, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Deterrence Robert Sufer said the military intends to test a medium-range ground-based ballistic missile previously prohibited by the INF Treaty by the end of this year. At the same time, he refused to clarify which particular rocket was in question.

Recall, the United States officially left the agreement on medium and short range missiles (INF Treaty) in early August, accusing Moscow of violating the treaty and developing a prohibited type of missile. After that, the United States tested the first ground-based missile with a reach of more than 500 kilometers.
