In the center of Donetsk, capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the first screening of the documentary film “His Bastion” of the Russian journalist, war correspondent Semyon Pegov, dedicated to the memory of the first Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko (1976-2018), was held.
‘This is a film about our hero, about our friend, about our“ Bath ”- Alexander Zakharchenko. There are a lot of personal frames, which are somewhat contradictory, which are somewhat rough. But for us, this is the very breath of history, the very breath of life. I did not try to create some kind of monumental picture. This film is my personal attitude to this person’, – said the author of the film, Semyon Pegov.
The documentary was created from the memoirs of relatives, friends and associates of Alexander Zakharchenko, who have been with him throughout his life.
On the screen you can see the mining village – the birthplace of the first Head, the place where he studied, hear the story about the first steps of the commander of the “Oplot” and the Head of the DPR.
Yesterday marks one year since the death of the Hero of the DPR and the legendary soldier of the “Russian spring” Alexander Zakharchenko. Five years ago, in 2014, when the Donbass rebelled against the new Kiev government, focused on dubious values for the population, we first recognized him as the commander of the Donetsk “Bastion”, then as an uncompromising warrior and, in the end, as one of the most militant leaders of the state : being the head of the DPR, Zakharchenko until the very last days did not leave the front line and in fact died as a soldier.
His body was blown up not on the battlefield, but as a result of a terrorist attack in the center of the capital.
But this only means that the frontline ran far beyond the borders of the direct line of contact with Ukrainian terrorist arms.
News Front correspondents based in Donetsk also presented a report from unique video archives.

Recall that the First Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, was tragically killed on August 31, 2018 as a result of a terrorist act in the center of Donetsk. This is a real loss for the Donbass, because Alexander Zakharchenko was not just a leader, he was a man and a warrior, whom people were ready to follow.
