Left-wing German party ‘Die Linke’ (The Left) gathered supporters in Dresden on Wednesday for their final rally ahead of the regional elections of Saxony and Brandenburg.
Several hundred people can be seen attending the rally where they listened to speakers and musicians.
Top candidates such as Rico Gebhardt, party leader Katja Kipping and Gregor Gysi were among party leaders who attended the rally.
The regional elections are set to take place on Sunday in the East German regions of Brandenburg and Saxony, states where Die Linke typically do well, and come at a time when the left-wing party has seen a decline in popularity the past years following the rise of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD). Gebhardt reportedly said he hoped to achieve 18 per cent of the vote in Sunday’s elections.
