Clashes continued between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and militants in the south of Idlib province on Sunday, as the government forces closed in on the strategic town of Khan Sheikhoun.
Footage shows clouds of smoke rising after shelling.
A SAA lieutenant, who chose to remain unnamed, said: “After this achievement, only few days or hours are left to recapture Khan Sheikhoun. A very short time is left after we interrupted supply lines and captured Rakaya Sijneh and Kafar Sijneh.”
The SAA resumed military operations in Hama and Idlib provinces earlier this month, accusing the militants of failing to abide by the conditions of a ceasefire declared on August 1.
