Hong Kong: Anti-government protesters hold rally in Chater Garden

Anti-government protesters flooded Chater Garden in the business district of Hong Kong on Friday, in the latest demonstration in the city. The rally was called ‘Stand With Hong Kong, Power to the People.’

Footage shows protesters gathered around a stage from which speeches were held.

Protests have been taking place in Hong Kong since the end of March. Demonstrators are calling for the total withdrawal of a suspended bill that would allow the extradition of the city’s residents to mainland China for trial. They also want Hong Kong’s chief executive Carrie Lam to resign and the conduct of Hong Kong’s police during the protests to be investigated, among other demands.
