US President Donald Trump makes it clear that he is ready to normalize relations between the US and Russia, which means that Europe may soon miss its own opportunity to consolidate cooperation with the Russian Federation.
This statement was made by former French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrin in an interview with Le Figaro.
According to him, the urgency is due to the fact that the re-election of Donald Trump for the second presidential term will untie his hands in this direction, and he will certainly carry out a “reset” of US-Russian relations. The problem is, as the diplomat notes, that European interests in this situation will be “out of work”.
Vedrin also drew attention to the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron had repeatedly expressed his desire to “connect Russia with Europe” in order to resolve the crisis of recent years, which hit the EU countries and brought Russia closer to China.
“It is necessary to resume, starting virtually anew, an arms control policy, as well as consistent disarmament,” the politician emphasized.
