Trump’s triumph: More than 45,000 illegal immigrants arrested in Mexico

Over 45 thousand migrants without valid documents were arrested in Mexico in the last two months, said Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.

As News Front previously reported, in June, the country’s authorities, under pressure from Washington, were forced to promise to block migrants’ attempts to enter the United States.

Now the number of illegal immigrants in Mexico continues to grow. They come here from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, wanting to get to the United States. In this regard, Washington forced Mexico City to sign a migration agreement, under which the Mexican authorities sent 21 thousand troops to the borders with Guatemala and the United States.

The government wants people to not put themselves at risk, said Mexican Foreign Minister Ebrard. “They hide in trucks, use fake identification cards, and this puts them at risk,” he said, adding that the country’s authorities will support a program to create 20,000 jobs in El Salvador and 13,000 jobs in Honduras to combat the causes of flight.

It is worth noting that the actions of Mexico had an effect. So, in July, about 82 thousand illegal migrants were arrested in the United States, which is 21% less than in June and 43% less than in May.
