Hong Kong: Tensions high outside Sham Shui Po police station on eve of Ghost Festival

Hong Kong residents continued to burn incense and joss paper to commemorate the deceased on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Festival in the residential district of Sham Shui Po in Kowloon on Wednesday, despite the escalation of tensions with the police.

Footage shows scores of people rallying outside a police station in Sham Shui Po, with some using laser pointers to prevent their identification.

Riot police armed with shields and batons could be seen marching down the street. As the demonstration escalated, riot police reportedly deployed tear gas to disperse the protesters.
