Germany: Every second sex offender is an migrant

Following a recent killing at Frankfurt’s main railway station, the federal police provided an overview of all kinds of crimes committed on railroad tracks and in a train compartment.

Among other things, a situation report shows that the number of sex crimes is increasing significantly, especially in commuter trains. It grew by almost 23 percent compared to the previous year.

Most sexual crimes are committed at train stations.

Every second suspected of sexual crimes does not have German citizenship. The largest share of 1,650 suspects was third-country nationals (43.9 percent).

“It is here that figures on immigration are noticeable, which have been increasing over the years, in particular from the regions of Southeast Europe, North Africa and Asia, as well as various social, cultural and ethnic influences,” the overall assessment of the situation report says.
