Hong Kong riot police was seen blocking Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR) station of Yuen Long district on Saturday, following a mass protest held earlier the same day against violent episodes over the previous weekend.
Earlier on Saturday, tens of thousands of anti-government demonstrators hit the streets of Yuen Long where the police met them with tear gas in attempt to disperse the protest. On July 21, dozens of masked men attacked commuters and anti-government protesters inside the MTR station of Yuen Long. Forty-five people were reportedly injured.
Since the wave of protests began in June, with hundreds of thousands marching on a weekly basis, the mainland China extradition bill has been suspended indefinitely but protesters are now demanding its full withdrawal and the resignation of Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
