Greece resumes fight against illegal migrants with Syriza in power

Since the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) in Greece has become the ruling party, the fight against illegal immigration has resumed.

The Greek police opened a criminal refugee network on the island of Samos, which was engaged in falsifying migrants’ medical certificates so that they could leave the island in the Aegean Sea.

Fake documents were written out that refugees need special medical care, and local hospitals do not have the necessary equipment.

With the help of these documents, migrants circumvented the rule prescribing them to remain on the island. It was also difficult for the Greek authorities to send such migrants to Turkey.

According to police, the network includes doctors, nurses and at least one translator. The ring has been active since March. Thus, migrants paid from 300 to 500 euros for fake medical certificates, diagnoses and medical transfers.

After a secret investigation, the police searched the local hospital. Medical records, 5,500 euros in cash, telephones, laptops, lists of migrants, medical transfers and stolen goods were seized. Ten people were arrested.

Four suspects were temporarily released because they were charged with only minor crimes. Two doctors are still in police custody.
