76 migrants rescued at sea and taken to Malta

A group of 76 migrants has been rescued in the Malta search and rescue area south of the island.

Reports were from Maltese media, which noted that a spokesperson for the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) had confirmed that the boat on which the migrants had been traveled had been intercepted by a military vessel. The 76 onboard are all men and are from Ghana and South Sudan. This is the second time in a month that AFM intercepts boats in Maltese waters. Early this month a group of 44 people, including a child, were rescued and taken to Malta.
