Afghanistan: At least 8 dead after bus carrying gov. workers hit by double bombing

At least 8 people were reportedly killed and dozens more were wounded after a double bomb attack on a bus carrying government workers in Kabul on Thursday.

Footage shows the damaged minibus that was reportedly first struck by a magnetic bomb attached to its underside, before a suicide bomber on a motorcycle also blew themselves up nearby once first responders had arrived.

The bus was carrying employees of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum when it was struck by the blasts while driving in the Macrorayan-e-Kohna area of the city.

One eyewitness at the site said “I saw around 7 women and children who were killed, it was very huge explosion.”

A further third car bombing took place near an industrial park in another part of the city later on, with the Taliban claiming responsibility for this third attack, while denying involvement in the other bombings.

The attacks come in the midst of a US-led push for a peace deal with the Taliban and just three days before the official campaign season for the September 28 presidential election gets underway.
