Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei has come under renewed scrutiny in the Czech Republic regarding potential security threats.
Local media have accused Huawei managers of collecting personal information from clients and inserting those details into a database managed by Chinese officials.
“We have never been engaged in any intelligence activities in the Czech Republic,” said Jakub Hera Adamowicz, Huawei’s European Union media manager, denying the accusations.
Earlier this year, the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NCISA) warned of security threats posed by the Chinese telecoms supplier and asked 160 public and private operators to conduct an analysis of risks and act accordingly.
