State of Palestine: Dozens injured as Israeli flags burn at Gaza border protest

Dozens of Palestinians were reportedly injured by live bullets and rubber-coated rounds fired by Israeli forces, during the weekly Great March of Return protests at the Gaza-Israel border on Friday.

Footage shows protesters burning Israeli flags alongside the border fence separating Gaza from Israel, with many fleeing as tear gas was deployed.

Several protesters were carried away to receive medical assistance. Some of the wounded were taken to hospital and others were treated at the scene.

The Great March of Return protests started in March 2018, as a non-violent protest campaign which calls for the Palestinian people’s right to return to their homes lost to Israeli forces in 1948.
