No evidence of hacking in UK diplomatic leak

There is no evidence that hacking was involved in the leaking of British diplomatic memos from London’s ambassador to Washington but an investigation is ongoing, the UK’s top civil servant in the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.

Appearing before a parliamentary select committee shortly after ambassador Kim Darroch quit over the leaking of his memos, Simon McDonald said he did not believe the United States was involved in the interception of the documents that criticized Donald Trump.

Asked whether the U.S. could have been involved, he said: “My personal view is ‘no’ – we have a very close relationship with the United States and we do not spy on each other.”
