Hong Kong’s Legislative Council building was sealed off as it remained in disarray late on Tuesday, after protesters stormed and vandalised the city’s chamber the night before.
Clean-up efforts got underway earlier in the day. Footage shows efforts continuing into the night, with emergency vehicles seen on the scene.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Hong Kong police evicted demonstrators who had spent hours inside the Legislative Council building in a protest marking the anniversary of the city’s handover from the UK to China.
Protesters occupying the council building demanded the resignation of Chief Executive Carrie Lam and full withdrawal of the currently suspended extradition bill.
