US President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un are due to meet in the Demilitarized Zone to shake hands, reviving hopes for improvement of ties between the two countires.
Trump’s meeting with Kim in the Demilitarized Zone marks the first time US president ever visits the border between two Koreas.
Kim and Trump originally engaged in negotiations during a summit in Singapore in June 2018, confirming their commitment to the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. However, the next round of talks denuclearising the Korean Peninsula, which was held in Hanoi in February ended abruptly without any agreement.
