An-24 plane makes emergency landing in Buryatia

Two people were killed and at least 30 others injured during an emergency landing of Antonov An-24 passenger plane at a regional airport of Nizhneangarsk in Russia’s Buryatia republic on Thursday.

According to Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM),
one of the engines of the An-24 plane, which was flying from Nizhneangarsk to Ulan-Ude, failed mid-flight. The pilots then made the decision to turn back to Nizhneangarsk.

During emergency landing the plane skidded off the runway and caught fire after hitting a building.

The plane had 47 people on board, five crew members and one child. The incident is being investigated.
