USA: Dozens gather in San Francisco to demand ‘No War with Iran’

Anti-war demonstrators gathered in San Francisco, California on Tuesday to demand the United States not go into a war with Iran.

Footage shows people holding banners saying ‘No War with Iran’ and ‘Sanctions are war’, in reference to the new sanctions imposed on Iran by US President Donald Trump.

Patricia Gorky, from the ‘Answer Coalition’ who organized the event, said “the United States wants a war with Iran because Iran represents a country which is charting an independent course from US imperial interest. Iran does not fall into line when it comes to support for Palestine, when it comes to the Houthis in Yemen, who are fighting against a brutal Saudi attack. Iran represents a country who overthrew the US-backed dictator.”

Another protester named Armin was pessimistic about stopping any potential war, saying “realistically, there’s not much I can do if they choose to go to war, but I just want to be out here to maybe show some people in power that a lot of people wouldn’t support a war if that happened. “
