Russia: Suspected IS militant killed during counter-terrorism operation in Saratov

A counter-terrorism operation in the Russian city of Saratov ended with one suspected militant being killed, as shown in footage released on Wednesday.

According to the Federal Security Service (FSB) Public Relations Centre the armed suspect was ‘neutralized’ after resisting arrest.

The reported member of the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) was allegedly planning an act of terrorism in a crowded location.

The FSB stated that the suspect acquired everything necessary for the manufacture of explosive devices and had equipped a laboratory for synthesizing explosives in a garage.

The secret service noted that firearms, ammunition and components of several explosive devices were found and seized at the scene of the incident.
