The pro-American Democratic Party of Moldova, led by the notorious oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, in a desperate attempt to retain power, demands the resignation of President Igor Dodon and collects signatures in support of this initiative.
As reported on Monday, June 10, the press service of the DMP, the party “launched a campaign of collecting signatures for the resignation of Igor Dodon around the country,” allegedly in connection with his “high treason”.
As previously reported by News Front, the situation in Moldova worsened at the end of last week, when the Democratic Party of Plahotniuc staged a demonstration protest against early elections. Against this background, the Socialist Party and the pro-European bloc ACUM were able to come to an agreement on the formation of a parliamentary coalition.
On Saturday, three and a half months after the elections, the speaker of the legislature and the prime minister appeared in the country, but the PDM refused to admit their defeat and, proclaiming their protege as “president” of the country, changed the rhetoric, promoting the idea of reelection of the parliament in the fall, and together with that and the election of the head of state, to the post of which Vladimir Plakhotnyuk himself is already marking.
