The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reportedly regained control of Qusabiya in southern Idlib on Monday, making it the first town to be recaptured along the border between the provinces of Hama and Idlib.
Footage shows clouds of smoke billowing after shelling as well as soldiers and military equipment in the liberated area.
The advances reportedly came after heavy clashes with the militant enclaves in Qusabiya which serves as a strategic supply point for nearby towns.
“Qusabiya is very significant and high-located,” said a Syrian Army commander who added the hill town acted as a “supply point to Kafr Naboudeh and al-Habeet,” and gives the Syrian forces “fire range” over al-Habeet in the Idlib province.
