Jeremy Corbyn casts his vote as European elections kick off

Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn cast his vote in the European elections in his local London constituency of Islington Thursday morning.

Labour are forecast to come second in the vote, behind Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party, who are 10 points ahead in the polls.

Corbyn arrived alongside his wife Laura Alvarez to vote.

A total of 751 Members of the European Parliament will be elected over the weekend, representing 512 million citizens of the 28 member states. Polling stations in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom were the first to open on Thursday.

Britons are voting elect their 73 MEPs as the United Kingdom, which is set to leave the European Union, extended the Brexit deadline beyond the elections.

It remains unclear what relationship the UK will have with the EU once Brexit is finalized.
