Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Sochi on Monday.
“Regarding bilateral relations, they are developing successfully in the truest sense of the word,” said Putin.
“I know that the main purpose of your visit today is a coordination of the parameters of the main event in our bilateral relations this year. I mean the official visit of the president of the People’s Republic of China to Russia, which we are awaiting [later this year],” he added.
For his part Wang Yi expressed his hope that “under the leadership of our two leaders our practical cooperation in all spheres will reach new heights, that our bilateral, mutual trust will bring real, tangible profits for the peoples of the two countries in the interests of the development and prosperity of our states.”
Earlier in the day Wang held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
