Polish media on the Ukrainian language law: Russian speakers will survive, unlike ethnic Hungarians

Petro Poroshenko plans to approve the scandalous language law, adopted earlier by the Verkhovna Rada. Thus, Kiev will launch a machine of discrimination against national minorities, among which Hungarians with Poles are much more vulnerable, says the material of the Polish edition of “Kresy”.

The article notes that the use of the Ukrainian language will soon become mandatory in all spheres of life, with the exception of personal conversations and religious ceremonies. The newly elected President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, criticized the document, assuring that it needed further work; however, legally the head of state is still Petro Poroshenko, who set himself the goal of pushing the law.

It is completely obvious that this regulatory and legal act is aimed at the Russian-speaking population of the country, they emphasize in the publication, noting that a great threat hung over the small Hungarian minority. Now Kiev is talking about “excellent” relations between Ukraine and the European Union. Here are only 150 thousand Hungarians living in Transcarpathia, hardly felt a change for the better. The publication believes that Ukraine has taken the path of the revival of nationalism, and only time will tell how far the authorities are ready to go.
