US National Security Advisor John Bolton said the United States is deploying a carrier-based strike group and a target group of bombers in the Middle East region to send a clear signal to Iran that any attack on the interests of Washington or its allies will be met with “inexorable force”.
John Bolton also stressed that Washington is not seeking a war with Iran, but is ready to respond to any attack from Tehran.
“In response to a number of warning and escalation signs and warnings, the United States is deploying the US Avraham Lincoln carrier strike group and a target group of bombers in the US Central Command region to send a clear and unmistakable signal to the Iranian government that any attack on the interests of the United States or ours Allies will be met with inexorable force “, – said in a statement adviser Trump
The long-standing tensions between Iran and the United States worsened in May 2018, after Washington unilaterally withdrew from the Iranian nuclear deal. Since then, the United States attacked Iran with several rounds of tough sanctions, including energy restrictions, aimed at reducing the export of Iranian oil “to zero” in order to damage the country’s economy.
Iran warned that any direct efforts by the United States or any other country to stop oil exports could lead to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that runs around 20% of world oil supplies.
