Syria: Army convoys filmed in Hama countryside as fighting escalates

Convoys carrying Syrian soldiers were filmed in the Hama countryside, between Sinjar and Makhram Qastel on Sunday, as the army reportedly prepares for an offensive against Jabhat al-Nusra in Hama and Idleb.

“Many reinforcements were conjured towards Idlib southern and western countryside, and northern Hama countryside. We made complete reinforcements in the area, in addition to prepare for intelligence and military work in Idlib and its countryside,” said an army official.

“The forces were positioned and the support thereof at the areas adjacent to the insurgents, which were a source of missiles and mortars against the safe and civil areas like: Latamneh, Kafr Zeteh, Kafr Nbodeh, Khan Sheikhoun, Kalet al-Madeeq, al-Hweiz, al-Hweija, and al-Hwash,” he added. “The (Syrian) Arab army is preparing for a military campaign towards such villages and areas.”

According to Syrian state media, the Syrian Arab Army began conducting operations against Jabhat al-Nusra in the provinces of Hama and Idleb, after the group allegedly broke the de-escalation zone agreement by launching rocket attacks on villages in designated safe zones.
