Italy: Abe and Conte determined to achieve denuclearisation of Korean Peninsula

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte underlined joint determination to achieve denuclearisation of Korean Peninsula, during talks in Rome on Wednesday.

“We shared a commitment to cooperate together for the complete, verifiable and irreversible eradication of weapons of mass destruction, and all ballistic missiles, based on the resolutions of the UN Security Council. Moreover, I’ve secured from the President of the Council the comprehension and the collaboration for a fast resolution for the situation, which is vital for Japan, of the Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea,” stressed Abe.

Conte, in turn, said: “We agree on the need to keep Pyongyang under high pressure to achieve a complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation of the peninsula.”
