Afghanistan: Locals react to UN report on civilians killed by US-backed forces

Residents of Jalalabad commented on the rising civilian death toll caused by international and pro-government forces in recent months on Wednesday.

According to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), international and US-backed and pro-government forces were responsible for 305 civilian deaths during the first three months of 2019.

The majority of the 305 deaths resulted from US airstrikes or search operations on the ground, primarily conducted by US-backed forces. In contrast, opposition forces killed 227 people during the same time period.
