Berlin: The world needs peace, not military alliances

Local and regional groups of the German peace movement are calling for the traditional Easter march. Against war and weapons, for peace and tranquility – tens of thousands of people will take to the streets across the country this Easter. Berlin says: “No to NATO!”

Withdrawal from NATO is one of the requirements of this year’s Easter march in Berlin, which will be held next Saturday. The basic requirement is “disarmament instead of modernization.”

Berlin on Easter Saturday will raise a protest against the already 70-year-old NATO as a military alliance. This was stated by co-organizer Laura von Wimmersperg from the Berlin Peace Coordination (FRIKO).

“The world needs peace, not military alliances,” the appeal says. The war of the Western alliance 20 years ago against Yugoslavia showed that this is a “global offensive alliance”.
