Moscow and Berlin continue to boost cooperation in the field of digital technologies, Russian Foreign Ministry official Oleg Tyapkin said on Monday at the official opening of the 4th Potsdam Meetings Youth Forum dubbed “Development of Digital Cities in Russia and Germany – a New Way to Cooperation”.

“Today, cooperation between Russia and Germany in the field of digital technologies is gaining practical traction,” Tyapkin pointed out recalling that back in 2017 the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs signed an agreement to establish a joint platform to share expertise and create cooperation projects.

The Russian diplomat underlined that the dialogue between Moscow and Berlin is an important factor for the development of the European ties.

He also stressed that youth exchanges continue to be one of the key aspects of the Russian-German cooperation.

“It is good to see that given the current challenging climate, the [youth exchanges] dynamics remains positive. In our view, such cooperation is vital as it is you, the younger generations, in the near future will have to take up all the responsibilities for the agenda, including our political relations. And we believe that the Potsdam Meetings Forum plays an important role in this regard,” he said.
