Brazil bridge collapses after ferryboat hit

Rescuers are looking for people who went missing after the collapse of a bridge in Brazil’s northern state of Para, Governor Helder Barbalh told members of a task force which was set up to deal with the aftermath of the disaster. According to the governor, the collapse occurred after a transport vessel crashed into one of the pillars supporting the 860-metre bridge. As a result, a 200-metre-long section of the bridge collapsed.
