Vladimir Plahotniuc, a scandalous oligarch and leader of the pro-Western Democratic Party of Moldova, has every chance to usurp power in the country again, and it will not be difficult to do so, told the former head of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu.
According to him, the most important thing for Plahotniuc now is to provoke early parliamentary elections, which is quite realistic, given the current situation in the legislative body of the country. The PDM then expects to get a majority in the regions where the difference with the Socialist Party was insignificant last time.
“Plahotniuc understands very well that he has every chance of obtaining absolute power after the early elections. Why share it? There are two ministries left. Where the Prime Minister is, there is the Ministry of Finance, the tax and customs services,” Ghimpu says. – I do not think that Plahotniuc wants a coalition. Most of all, he wants early elections; if he does not, then he will create a coalition with the socialists. ”
