Ukraine Beefs Up Security At Diplomatic Missions On Election Day

Ukraine’s Interior Ministry has tightened security at diplomatic missions on occasion of the presidential election on Sunday, the ministry’s press service said.

“Some 8,000 members of Ukraine’s National Guard have been deployed to protect public security, and security has been tightened at crucial state facilities, embassies and consulates of foreign countries,” the ministry said, noting that special operations units are also on alert.

More than 135,000 law enforcement personnel are ensuring security across Ukraine during the election, the Interior Ministry said earlier.

On Sunday, Ukraine holds presidential election. Over 29 million Ukrainian citizens are officially listed as eligible voters to cast their votes for 39 candidates running for president.
